SMALL ACTS OF KINDNESS

What do you think is the easiest way to boost your mood and realise your self-worth? What, in this world, would require less effort from your side to give you the maximum self-satisfaction? What would make you look straight in the mirror and sigh with contentment? What would make you feed amazed about yourself? A simple and humble act of KINDNESS!

Not a treasure, not a victory, not a jackpot. These are momentary and monetary happiness, which is sure to bring with it the pressure to keep up the game and to safeguard it from many prying hands. The happiness attained from these materialistic pleasures would just add on to our pressure to achieve more, never giving us a closure or contentment in life.

We all know that the small acts of kindness are sure to benefit the people around us who are receiving them. But, have you ever stopped to think that with those small acts, you end up gaining more than you are giving!

When you indulge yourself knowingly or unknowingly in the good deeds, however insignificant they might seem, they help you lead a happier and fulfilling life, in addition to transforming you into a better version of yourself. Compassion has no maximum or minimum limits. What might seem like a meager act to us would mean a world to someone!

How can we make a difference in someone’s life with our seemingly insignificant acts? Does it sound vague? I have listed few acts which can be done without much efforts-

1.SmileThis is the simplest act of all.Make a habit of smiling and greeting people when you are on your day today errands. The other person who might be having a rather difficult day at work, would definitely be energized and humbled by this act!

2.Paying a colleague or a stranger a compliment and meaning it.

3.Pick up the litter or any unwanted stones/protruding rods on your way to work, that are sure to cause discomfort to the commuters and dispose them off with utmost care.

4.Instead of sending a ‘Good morning/Good night’ text to a close friend, make sure to call atleast a close friend or relative a day. It might take five minutes of our time, but might make a difference to someone and make them feel cared about.

5.Declutter your wardrobe and you are sure to find unused/not so flattering clothes cluttered in them. We can give them to the needy. It is like ‘getting four mangoes with one stone’ kind of work, wherein the single act of giving out equals making the one benefitted, happy; your wardrobe is ready to welcome new clothes; the decluttering act relieves your stress; this small act of giving out the under-used will make you feel good about yourself for sure.

6.Planting a tree in the neighborhood.

7.Paying undivided attention to someone, during a conversation without the intervention of your mobile phone notifications.

8.Let someone old, standing behind you in a queue to go before you.

9.Give your seat in a public transport to someone differently abled or the elderly.

10.Visit an orphanage or old age home once or twice a year to spend time with the inmates, which would also make you realize how blessed your life is!

11.Offer to help someone carry the heavy grocery bag.

12.Bring flowers to the people who mean the world to you, once in a while, let them know how grateful you are to have them in your life and make them feel wanted.

GOOD DEEDS AND KARMA:
Are you a believer in Karma? A good deed equals good karma count. In this world, what you throw comes back to you, very much similar to the gravitational force. So, remember! The deed, good or bad, done by you is sure to have its effect and you are sure to receive the same from someone, as Karma would find you eventually.

MORAL COMPASS AND MORAL POLICE:
These days, everyone is interested in other persons’ life and circumstances, interfere and judge them on the moral scale, playing the moral police, which is uncalled for. Let us be our own moral compass, practice integrity, judge what is right/wrong, be kind to ourselves and others.A small change made by us on ourselves will indeed be a first step in making the world a better place.

INITIATING THE ACT OF KINDNESS CHAIN: The Butterfly effect
This is the age of social media, where people readily document even the smallest of the details happening in their lives.Since this is the new normal, let us use this to better the world. Do a good deed and make sure to document it, tag your friends to carry the deed forward, causing the butterfly effect.Let us initiate this kindness act and trigger a chain of neverending humble acts.Let us Heal the world;Make it a better place for you and for me and the entire human race.*
