#149. LEAPING UP TO GLORY

Leap years are cursed, atleast for Rihaan. Born on 29th February 2000, he got to celebrate his authentic birthdays only once in every 4 years. Added to his woes, the year he was born, his father lost his job due to the Y2K problem. What more? He has broken his leg, his favourite pet died, his girlfriend left him for his best friend. No prize for the guesses. Every damn thing happened on a leap year!

20 years later, grown all big and mature, he wanted to peel away the layers of insecurities, that the leap year brought him, very badly. Right at the moment, he got admitted to the Harvard University. Has his jinx finally broken? Even though everyone reminded him that it is that curse of a leap year again, he decided to take that leap of faith.

Now, his luck burst into peals of laughter. 2020 turned out to be a mega curse, with other leap year jinxes, paling in comparison. With his travel plans halted suddenly due to the virus outbreak, uncertainty looming everywhere, everyone had their ‘I told you so’ moments.

Just then, a mail arrived stating that his unmarried distant aunt, who lived abroad and didn’t have any rightful heir, had died, leaving behind billions worth of property in his name. Leaping up in joy, he knocked his mother off, now somebody please tell him if his jinx is broken or not!
