“Do you really want me to spell it out? I am sure you’ve conjured up this story, so as to escape my family get together”

“That’s an impertinent claim! You’ve offended me”

“So, you’re inferring that you really got hurt and this has nothing to do with our travel plan”

“Yes”

“Okay..I thought of taking you shopping to Gucci today. But, since you….”

“You didn’t just mention GUCCI”, she leapt to her feet.

Noting his sly smile, she started blushing profusely.

    What’s a petard? I don’t know. I’ll look it up.

    It’s a small, bowl-shaped bomb. So to be hoist on one’s own petard literally means to be blown up. Ew.
