A Contest like no other!

It was a contest like no other.

To say that my first day at the in-laws place was quite eventful would be an understatement. I was nervous and excited for the obvious reasons.

A contest was organized to humor the newest member of the family, that is, yours truly. My husband explained to me about the rules of the game with so much enthusiasm that I doubted he would have played this contest with his siblings quite often. He looked so adorable that I gave him a secret wink and made him blush.

The contest was to eat a tin full of Rasgullas* in one go. Even for a person with a sweet tooth such as me, this contest seemed farfetched and gave a nauseous feeling. “Doesn’t a tin contain atleast 50 Rasgullas? And these people are raring to go. What would they be winning by contesting, that they all look so charged to win!”, I wondered aloud.

“Oh you didn’t know! The winner would be adjudged ‘The Rasgulla king’ and do you know what’s ultimate? He would be winning two tins full of Rasgullas as prize”. Needless to say, my husband’s explanation gave me a near faint episode!

Rasgulla* – An Indian dessert made from a type of cottage cheese cooked in sugary syrup.
