Oh dear!
Soon we might be taught that
we are born different.
Oh dear!
Soon we might be fed with
hatred and difference.
Why should we care
about things not in our control,
such as birth and death!
What should matter more
is how well we lived in between both!
Why don’t we skip the unwanted lesson
that come our way?
Even if we are force fed,
Can we decide to unlearn?
Can we not borrow their thoughts?
Oh my dear friend,
Let the love we share never end.

A very touching poem, Ramya! Children do have to be taught to hate…It is the children who should be teaching the lesson to love, as you suggest in the poem. ❤ All the best!

‘No one is born hating another person because of the colour of his skin…’ The wise words in your poem echo those of Nelson Mandela. Great poem, Ramya!
